- Eco-Friendly Remodeling in San Ramon, CA
Eco-friendly remodeling means renovating so the house uses less energy and water, keeps indoor air cleaner and sends less material to the landfill — without giving up the look you want. In San Ramon’s hot, dry summers and cool winters, that usually starts in the attic and the ducts, then moves to water heating, windows and the kitchen and bathroom finishes. Green Living Remodeling has built its name on exactly these projects since 2021.
| Upgrade | What it does | Our service |
|---|---|---|
| Attic insulation and air sealing | Stops summer heat from pouring into bedrooms and cuts heating and cooling losses through the ceiling. | Attic insulation in San Ramon |
| Air duct replacement | Leaky, crushed or dusty ducts waste conditioned air and spread dust; new sealed ducts deliver the air you paid for. | Air duct replacement |
| Tankless water heater | Heats water only when you use it instead of keeping a tank hot all day. | Tankless water heaters |
| Heat-pump HVAC | Electric heating and cooling in one system; favored under California’s 2025 energy code. | HVAC installation |
| Architectural window film and shades | Cuts glare and solar heat gain on west-facing glass without replacing windows. | Window film · Shades |
| Water-saving kitchens and baths | Low-flow fixtures, LED lighting, low-VOC paints and finishes, cabinet refacing where the boxes are sound. | Kitchen · Bathroom |
California’s building energy code (Title 24, Part 6) applies to additions and alterations, not only new homes. Permits filed on or after January 1, 2026 follow the 2025 standards, which favor heat-pump space and water heating and tighten insulation, window and ventilation requirements. In practice: when you replace a water heater, an HVAC system, windows, or add square footage, the new components have to meet today’s code. We design around it from the first sketch so there are no surprises at inspection. Read the plain-English Title 24 guide.
Utility, state and federal programs periodically offer rebates or tax credits for heat pumps, insulation and efficient water heating. Programs, amounts and eligibility change often, so we check what is current for your address and equipment when we prepare the estimate, and we point you to the paperwork.
Some items cost more up front (a heat pump versus a basic furnace, for example) and some cost less (refacing versus new cabinets). Attic insulation, air sealing and duct work are among the least expensive upgrades relative to the comfort and utility-bill difference they make.
Almost always the attic: insulation depth, air sealing at the ceiling plane and the condition of the ducts running through the attic. We inspect all three in the free visit.
Yes. We prepare the plans and compliance documents required by the City of San Ramon and schedule the inspections.
